In an effort to transfer Agricultural skills to learners, Sifiso Hosiah Leve from Dimbaza developed a poultry and vegetable project called Zila Distributors which will assist schools in Dimbaza and bring job opportunities to the community.
The University of Fort Hare Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics graduate said that the project was established in April 2020 to create job opportunities for members of the community and give agricultural skills to learners so they can contribute towards economic growth.
According to Leve, the schools will be known as the Centre of practical’s and demonstration for agricultural learners and this will put the schools on the map for more funding prospects.
“The project will employ 20 people because there are two schools that we have an agreement however we still need to raise funds to purchase 12 poles, a 90-metre fence, 10 spades, folk spade, gardening digging hoe, 4 x 5000 litres of Jojo tanks in order for this project to kick start,” he said
Leve expressed that the company produces chickens, cabbage and pigs. And also provide education, experience and research in Poultry, Vegetable and Piggery production for the community.
In-addition, Leve said the project will support local initiatives by providing product and marketing services to rural communities thus improving the number of products and lives in general.
“The project aims to transfer agricultural skills to learners and teach them about the importance of agriculture, land and entrepreneurship. The income generated from selling the produce will assist children without school uniforms and those who can not go to school tours because they can’t afford to,” said Leve.
