As president Cyril Ramaphosa is about to launch the Green Good Deeds programme at Sisa Dukashe stadium in Mdantsane, Buffalo City Metro Municipality Executive Mayor Xola Pakati graced Kuyasa High School in Dimbaza with his presence on Friday to convey the significance of a clean city.
Speaking to Buffalo City Metro News Pakati said, they have a project whereby the leadership of the municipality participates in cleaning up the city every Friday.
“This is to ensure that the city is clean, we are cleaning up all the dumpsites and we are also mobilising communities for the clean city campaign. There is a project that President Cyril Ramaphosa is going to address as part of mobilising South Africans for a clean country,” He said.
The executive mayor opened a platform for pupils to ask questions regarding the campaign and how the recyclable products will benefit the school.
To educate people about the significance of a clean city, ward 36 councillor Bongiwe Sauli said their focal points are schools, where pupils will be educated on the benefits that this campaign has for them and the environment.
The schools RCL president Simamnkele Ntshongo said the clean campaign will help clean up the filthy community, he added that the money raised through recycling material will help with maintaining the school.
