Congress of the People (COPE) introduced its premier candidates who will lead their election campaigns at Windsor Cabanas, in East London yesterday.
Speaking to BCM News COPE’s secretary general Diratsagae Alfred Kganare said the candidates include Eastern Cape Bishop Lievie Sharpley who is also a member of the provincial legislature for COPE, KwaZulu Natal Provincial Secretary Jessica Randay, Free State National Chairperson Teboho Loate, member of the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature Pakes Dikgetsi, Gauteng Secretary of Communications Dennis Bloem, North West Provincial Secretary for International Relations Matsolo Lekganyane, Limpopo Provincial Chairperson Dr Mankwana Arnaus Rampedi and Mpumalanga Ouma Mathebula who is a founding member of COPE.
The president of COPE Mosioua Lekota promised voters free education, employment opportunities, free electricity and to deal with the national debt which is a huge problem in this country.
“We will make sure that children of our country irrespective of their colour and setting in life will go and get education in the early part of their lives. We will give them education that we as adults have paid for”, said Lekota.
Lekota added that they will persuade foreign investors to come to South Africa as the best investment destination, to assist in creating job opportunities and enable unemployed people to earn an income and pay tax.
Lekota said as the country is moving to the age of modern technology, they have discovered that electricity can be made with water, air and the sun. He said the country needs to utilise that technology and educate the youth to produce electricity from natural resources and make it available to the people.
“We will abandon the old technology that is no longer economically viable such as Eskom and make it possible for our people to enjoy the gift that the country has,” he said.
