Riding waves is what the king of the Reef participants enjoy the most as this event will be held at Nahoon Reef in East London this Saturday.

Speaking to BCM News Contest Director of Border Waveski, Bruce Viaene said the reason for hosting this event is because Nahoon Reef is the premier wave in South Africa.

“It is great for surfing, longboarding, for waveskiing and all types of water sports. Hence hosting an event there just makes sense,” said Viaene.

In addition Viaene explained they have three different contests on the South African Waveski calendar that took place in April in the West Coast, the one which will take place in East London Nahoon reef and the one which takes place in Durban.

“This is part two of the South African Circuit and we have riders all over the country coming to East London and who love taking part in Nahoon,” he said.

According to Viane they have about 30 riders who will be participating, ranging from ages eight to 75 year. He said this is a smaller event and usually in the national contests they have plus minus 50 participants.

Viaene conveyed that the competition is open to everyone, however the best way to get involved is to connect with the local waveski club which is the East London Border Waveski Association.
