To develop the tourism and entertainment of the city, Buffalo City Metro Executive Mayor Xola Pakati launched the construction of a Waterworld Fun Park for over R100 million in Westbank.
According to Pakati, the project is driven by Buffalo City Metropolitan Development Agency and it is part of the preparations for the Post-COVID-19 economic recovery.
“The multi-million rand project will be completed in the next 18 months. This is part of our contribution to the uplifting of the tourism sector in our city,” he said.
Pakati expressed that they will use this opportunity to ensure that local residents also benefit from the project.
Buffalo City Metropolitan Development Agency CEO Bulumko Nelana said this is a 5.9 Hector development.
“Previously there was a water park which went to disrepair for various reasons, which are the age of the park because it was developed a long time ago and was badly managed,” said Nelana.
He added that post-development there will be a proper management structure.
“We are also partnering with bodies such as Boating South Africa for water sport,” he said.
