Triggered by her facial skin problems Siviwe Piliso, 23, manufacturer’s organic soaps in her backroom.
The University of Fort Hare Microbiologist Honours graduate said her company Beauty Organic Super Soap (Boss) was established in March 2020 for people with skin problems.
“Due to the high rate of unemployment in the country and my skin problems which were later made better by my product, I decided to start my own business using my Microbiologist skills to make my homemade organic soap,” said Piliso.
In-addition Piliso said Boss produces three types of organic soaps, Lemon soap for dark spots, Aloe for Acne and Scrub for smoothing skin.
“They are all chemical-free, the ingredients are completely natural. Everyone is supposed to use organic cosmetics to protect themselves from the harshness of the chemicals and preservatives,” she said.
According to the 23-year-old, she is in dire need of funding as she runs her small business in a backroom at home.
“I am in need of funding and property as it is difficult to convince people to buy your product when you are operating in your backroom without proper packaging,” she said.
Talking about the future of her business, Piliso said she wants to produce her soaps in larger scales and supply cosmetic stores with her beauty bar.
“I would like to say to the youth of South Africa, do not be afraid to become a better version of yourself. And do not let your background define your future,” she said.
