Some people from the villages of Tsholomnqa and the surrounding areas of the Buffalo City Metro area are expected to get jobs from the newly built state of the art Multi-Purpose Kiwane Resort Centre and the restaurants in Kiwane near Tsholomnqa.

The 3.2 million rands world-class facility with modern amenities is going to host meetings, workshops, weddings, parties, and many other events in the Metro.

Speaking during the official opening of the Kiwane Resort Conference Centre yesterday, Buffalo City Metro mayor Xola Pakati said this is part of the Metro’s effort to improve the lives of rural people.

“Bahlali base Tsholomnqa, We are today launching this Conference Centre as part of our interventions for the rural economy and improving your livelihoods. When we launched the resort last year, I urged you to treat it as your treasure by protecting it,” said Pakati.

Pakati has urged the communities to protect the Resort as there were reported cases of theft during the construction.

“I am confident that you will continue to work with the police in protecting this property against any acts of criminality. The reality is that this resort has the potential of unlocking a hive of other economic investments in Kiwane Beach and that will be determined by how we handle this one,” he said.

Pakati has applauded the Tsholomnqa residents for their support and for protecting the facilities during construction.

“The city is very thankful for the support in the process of constructing the Conference Centre and is confident that the people of Tsholomqa will continue to jealously protect the entire resort, as this is a very important asset for the City’s overall post-COVID-19 economic recovery plan,” he said.

One of the residents who got a job opportunity during the construction Melumzi Zinto has thanked the Buffalo City Metro for the job he got.

“I thank Buffalo City Metro for this job, now I have managed to save some money so that I can buy Christmas gifts for my  children and my wife,” said Zinto.
