It is alleged that a man accused of killing six-year-old Ayabukwa Mhlahlo in Mdantsane was murdered by a mob of community members.
The police have condemned mob justice as this occurred after a six-year-old girl was found raped and dead along the road in NU8 after she had gone to a local shop to buy some sweets.
According to Captain Khaya Tonjeni, some locals took the law into their own hands-on Friday evening. Mdantsane residents resorted to vigilantism as they refused to allow the law to take its course and they beat the man to death.
“A group of community members from N.U 8, chased, assaulted and murdered a man they alleged to be behind the murder. A case of murder has been opened for investigation.”
The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Liziwe Ntshinga has ordered a 72-hour activation of all resources to bring speedy finalisation of the investigation and the arrest of those implicated.
