After years and years of broadcasting at Mdantsane FM community radio station, Thando Kobese also known as DJ Dololo scooped his first award at the third annual ECMAS for best community radio programme.

The award winning radio presenter was born in Keiskammahoek Ngxalawe Village. His love for radio started when he was still a scholar at Philemon Ngcelwane high school in Mdantsane, where he used to commentate games between schools. He also used to visit Mdantsane FM when it was still at highway to listen to presenters while they are on air, thereafter his radio career started in 2015 when he was given an opportunity to co-host at a graveyard show called Masivuke Ntozakuthi, then later hosted another show called Morning Breeze.

The show that earned him the award, Inkuthazo which airs on Mondays and Tuesdays focuses on motivating people with various social issues they encountered.

“I encouraged people to vote for me via social media, on radio, at events that I host. I made sure that when I get a chance to talk to people I use it to campaign for votes” he said.

To make sure that his show is different, Dj Dololo said, he assures that he knows what his listeners want and he knows what kind of music suits his show.

He said he is excited about winning the award and is planning to give back to the listeners and fans who voted for him. He also dedicates this award to Mdantsane FM listeners.

Kobese who is currently co-hosting a midday show called Local is Lekker every Fridays from 12 noon to 3pm hopes to one day host his own prime time show at the SABC, he added that he would like to thank all his listeners for the support.
