Mdantsane born comedian Siya Seya promises Mdantsane residents a good time in his upcoming comedy event, the Mdantsane Comedy Special.
The event will be on the 16th of February at Oteez Pub and Braai in Mdantsane NU17. The lineup comprises of Mdantsane and King Williams Town comedians like Luphelo Kodwa, Anele Shube, Liya Nqaba and many more.
Organiser and award winning comedian Siyabulela Seya said since he does not usually perform in Mdantsane he feels he needs to perform more at his birth place and this event is a first of many.
“We advertised the event on social media and we sell tickets directly to the people and when we deliver the tickets we take pictures and post on facebook,” he said
SATMA nominee and Mdantsane comedian Anele Shube who started comedy in 2008 met Siya Seya who told him that they don’t have to go to Jo’burg to be successful comedians, their vision is to put Mdantsane on the map.
“The nice thing about being a comedian is knowing that your presence makes a difference in people’s lives and realizing that I’m an uneducated therapist is the nicest,” he said.
Shube promises the audience a good time with material that they will relate to as he talks about things that are happening to or around them.
Seya said they decided to bring the show to Mdantsane as people from Mdantsane have been complaining about the shows being far and that they cannot attend, also because he was born in Mdantsane but has never performed for Mdantsane people. He added that performing for Xhosa people will be much easier than performing for non-Xhosa speaking people.
