The children of Duncan Village sang their Christmas jingle bells with smiles on their faces as the Motsepe Foundation gifted them Christmas toys.
According to one of the Motsepe Foundation employees, Joe Maseko, the children received cars, cups, soccer and rugby balls.
Maseko added that the foundation targets mainly the underprivileged areas where parents can not afford to buy their children gifts for Christmas.
“Since Christmas is around the corner we want to make children happy, as we all know that not all parents can afford to buy toys for their kids,” she said.
Ward one Councillor Kuhle Cibiza said she is humbled by the good deed from Motsepe Foundation. She added that she went to all the schools around the community and gathered all children from grade R to one.
“We are overjoyed as the community of Duncan Village to see our children receiving Christmas toys, I am certain that they will indeed have a Merry Christmas, Said Cibiza.
A teacher from Lujiza Primary School Thantaswa Sikiti said other children do not have toys back at home, so receiving these toys and playing with them will help expand a child’s imagination.
“We saw that boys were given cars and girls were given cups to play dolls, we are grateful for such a gesture, ” said Sikiti.
