Condolences are pouring in following the death of Buffalo City Metropolitan speaker Alfred “Skuta” Mtsi.
Mtsi succumbed to a COVID 19 related illness at Life Beacon Bay hospital in East London yesterday.
Eastern Cape Premier Oscar Mabuyane has conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the Mtsi family.
“We wish comforting strength to the Mtsi family, the Buffalo City Metro Municipality, municipal council, staff in his office and the people of Buffalo City Metro, comrades in the African National Congress and all structures of the alliance where he was active as a leader,” said Mabuyane.
COGTA MEC Xolile Nqatha has also sent his condolences to the family.
“The sacrifices he made during his time were of the benefit to humanity. Alfred served the people of Buffalo City selflessly and we are poorer without him,” said Nqatha.
Buffalo City Metro Executive mayor Xola Pakati also conveyed his condolences to the Mtsi family.
“We wish to send our condolences to the Mtsi family, and we call on all residents of the city to put the family in their thoughts and prayers as it goes through this difficult moment. The departure of comrade Mtsi has quickly made itself felt and already the air is still without his soft voice,” said Pakathi.
“This is extremely depressing and devastating for me. We were highly bonded with comrade Mtsi in ways unimaginable and it seems that fate and the allocation of tasks in the people’s movement always reinforced this in an intriguing manner, ” Pakathi added.
Funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.
