Grieved Buffalo City residents and politicians attended the virtual memorial service of the late Buffalo City Metro Council speaker Alfred Skuta Mtsi to pay tribute to him.
Mtsi succumbed to COVID 19 related illness in Beacon Bay Life hospital in East London last Sunday.
Speakers have described Mtsi as a humbled and a principled leader who dedicated his life serving his people.
Speaking on behalf of the political party alliance, COGTA MEC Xolile Nqatha has described his death as a big blow and painful.
“There is nothing I can say on behalf of the alliance that will fill the sudden hole in your hearts, we share your sorrow we have no words that can express our sense of loss. We are deeply grateful to the family for borrowing us comrade Mtsi from the young age to be part of this glorious movement,” said Nqatha.
Nqatha added that the late Mtsi dedicated his life to the liberation of the workers and his people. “He lived a life of purpose, life of serving people which he did with genuine humility and commitment.”
Buffalo City Deputy Executive Mayor Zolisa Matana described Mtsi as a humbled, principled and unifier leader.
“We have lost such a good comrade Mtsi, he was a shining star, I can assure that from all the comrades I know in the African National Congress that comrade Mtsi was one the best. He was disciplined, humble and respectful,” said Matana.
Funeral service will start at 07H30am on Friday at the Robbie de Lange Hall, Greenfields.
