East London remains the epicentre of the COVID-19 pandemic in Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality.
According to the Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality Spokesperson Samnkelo Ngwenya, East London has 2293 cases active and 71 deaths. Mdantsane has 991 with 32 deaths and KWT/Bhisho has 878 active cases with 56 deaths.
“The Municipality calls all people living or visiting Buffalo City to take necessary precautions as this is a Coronavirus highly infected area,” said Ngwenya.
He added that the Municipality applauds the testing and screening activities done by the Department of Health as statistics revealed an increase from the tests conducted since the last report.
“On Monday the BCM COVID-19 Command Centre updated that in Buffalo City there are 15 303 confirmed cases, 10 782 recoveries, 4 361 active cases and 160 deaths,” he said.
Ngwenya expressed that the Buffalo City Metro safety and security operations are being intensified to ensure that as a Coronavirus hotspot area, the City’s businesses adhered to lockdown regulations.
