Manhunt for Sweetwaters killers

King Williams Town police have launched a manhunt following the murder of two men outside a local tavern at Sweetwaters in eQonce.

It is alleged that two men were gunned down by an unknown person outside the tavern yesterday night.

According to police spokesperson Thembinkosi Kinana police were summoned to a complaint of a shooting outside a local tavern in Sweetwaters and upon their arrival, they found the bodies of the deceased with gunshot wounds.

“At the scene, two unknown male bodies were found lying dead with several gunshot wounds. The investigation into establishing the motive for the shooting is currently underway,” he said.

Kilana further said that during the police investigation inside the tavern’s premises they confiscated boxes of drugs.

“Police preliminary investigation led to the arrest of a person believed to be the owner of the said tavern after ten (10) sachets of tik and four (4) full of mandrax were confiscated from his house,” said Kinana.

The 43-year-old male is expected to appear in the King Williams Town Magistrate Court on charges relating to possession of drugs, once charged.

The Police are calling on anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect to contact their nearest police station or contact crime stop on 08600 10111.
