On a mission to renew Mdantsane township, Buffalo City Metro Municipality has upgraded the Qumza Highway road in Mdantsane.
The project of upgrading the Qumza Highway road started on the 20th of September 2018 for a contract duration of 30 months.
Buffalo City Metro mayor Xola Pakati officially reopened the newly built Qumza Highway yesterday.
Speaking at the reopening ceremony of the second phase of the Qumza Highway road in Mdantsane, Buffalo City Metro mayor Xola Pakati has expressed satisfaction with the roadworks upgrades in Mdantsane.
“We are happy about the fact that this project was finished on time and that the quality of the work done is visible for all to see,” said Pakati
Pakathi said members of the community have played a huge role in ensuring that the project is completed.
“This project should serve as a benchmark for all our projects in that it ticked all the boxes including its social responsibilities and that is something that was reflected on by members of the Mdantsane community without us influencing them,” he said.
Pakathi added that Mdantsane is one of the townships in the Metro that they are planning to develop.
“We are hard at work to improve our City and change the face of townships like Mdantsane and this project will unlock a lot of socio-economic possibilities,” said Pakati.
Pakati further said the aim of upgrading Qumza Highway is for the safety of the Mdantsane road users.
This section of the road is being upgraded to alleviate traffic congestion and improve the safety of road users.”
