Shootout leaves two dead during cash in transit robbery

It is alleged that three armed men shot and killed two security guards during a cash-in-transit robbery at Southernwood SuperSpar this morning.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Brenda Muridili the security guards aged 49 and 48 have been shot and killed while one of them was standing at the entrance of a store.

“It is alleged that at approximately 08:15 three suspects shot at the two security guards while one of them was standing at the entrance of a store and the other had just collected money from the same store. Both guards succumbed to their wounds on the scene,” said Lieutenant Colonel Muridili.

Muridili added that one of the customers who 58 years old woman was also shot and injured during the robbery. She was taken to hospital for medical attention, where she is reported to be in a stable condition.

She said the suspects fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money in an unknown vehicle with no registration numbers.

“The cases are under investigation for cash-in-transit robbery, murder and attempted murder,” said Lieutenant Colonel Muridili.
