Golden Boy puts Duncan Village on the Map as he is set to fight in a World title which will take place at the Hulu Theatre Madison Square Garden in New York City, in the United States of America (USA).
Azinga “Golden Boy” Fuzile from Duncan Village in East London will face Kenichi Ogawa of Japan for the IBF Junior Lightweight vacant World Title and the Buffalo City Metro wishes him success.
BCM Spokesperson Samkelo Ngwenya said they are extremely proud of what this young man has achieved thus far in his short and ever-rising career.
“As Buffalo City, we would like to take this opportunity to wish one of our brightest prospects well on his upcoming world contest,” he said.
According to BCM Spokesperson, Fuzile has demonstrated that regardless of one’s origin and circumstances, talent and dedication can create one a household name, as evidenced by his appearance in one of the world’s most significant boxing arenas.
“Our city is regarded around the world as the boxing mecca because of its rich history, thanks to our exceptional male and female boxers who have made South Africa a force to be reckoned with in boxing history,” he said.
The Premier of the Eastern Cape, Oscar Mabuyane also wished the Golden Boy luck as he prepares to contest the IBF Junior Lightweight World Title.
“I am convinced that the boxer will bring pride to the people of, East London, South Africa’s home of boxing,” Mabuyane added.
MEC for the Eastern Cape Department of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture, Fezeka Nkomonye wished Fuzile all the best.
Ngwenya said hundreds of thousands of Buffalo City residents will be glued to their televisions on Saturday, hoping Fuzile performs to his full potential and brings the crown home.
“His overwhelming triumph will motivate many young people in our dusty townships to continue participating in sports and to improve their lives while raising the flag of our city,” said Ngwenya.
