Twelve (12) year-old Demila
Twelve (12) year-old Demilade Esona Zingce Obagunwa is one of the beauty pageant contestants who will be representing the Eastern Cape province in the Miss SA Top Model Beauty Pageant in Durban.
Demilade was born and bred in Bhisho just outside of King William’s Town. She is the second born to Nokuzola Tsoko and Niyi Obaguwa.
The grade 6 learner at St Christopher’s Private School in King William’s Town told BCM News that she discovered her love for modeling and fashion at a very young age.
“My love for the camera drove me to sort through my mother’s old photos, that was where I saw that my mother was a model and from then I never looked back but I continued with my passion for posing for the camera,” said Demilade.
Demilade is encouraging young people not to be afraid to voice out their feelings.
“I stand for Children’s rights which I believe that every child deserves to be treated fairly, equally, and better. I believe that every child at my age and even younger should be encouraged to speak out and report any kind of ill-treatment or abuse by those around them. Let’s speak out girls,” she said.
Speaking to BCM NEWS, a proud mother of two Nokuzola Ntsoko said she is so proud of her daughter and that becoming a professional model was her dream as a teenager but due to unforeseen circumstances she couldn’t fulfill her dream.
“I am glad that my daughter is following in my footsteps and I wish she can go further with her passion for modeling. I even told her that modeling must not interfere with her school work as that can destroy her dream of becoming a well-known model and a pediatrician,” said Nokuzola.
Demilide is a member of Our legacy modeling academy which is based in King William’s Town.
The Miss SA top model competition is going to be held in Durban on the 1st of October 2022.
